Neither Greek Nor American

A political commentator recently complained that many American Christians are Americans first and Christians second. He implies that they should be Christians first and Americans second. Galatians 3:28 says something quite different.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
We need to think about what this means.

There are not Greeks in Jesus Christ. That means that there are no New Zealanders in Jesus Christ, and there are no Americans in Jesus Christ.

Many Christians believe that God will use America to expand the Kingdom of God. This is not true. As the Kingdom of God expands like a mustard seed into a mighty tree, the nations will shrivel up an rot like a shrunken prune. As the Kingdom of God grows, the United States will have to wither away and disappear.

On this we agree.  Every Church, every nation, every political movement will eventually fall apart and disappear.  There is nothing anyone can do about it.  The USA and New Zealand will cease to exist someday.  Maybe not in my lifetime, but eventually unless Jesus comes back before.

That is all true except for ONE, Israel, physically and spiritually will remain forever.  Or you have to tear these pages out of your Bible.

I wanted to just find a couple of the passages I could point to but this guy did it better than I could have.  I am convinced that we must tread carefully on those things God calls, forever, everlasting and eternal.  Israel is not America or New Zealand.  What in the world would cause a world to pay so much attention to in love or in hatred as people have for Israel even though they are significant only by their absence.  It's a supernatural thing.  No other culture, nation and language has persisted as fully and successfully as has Israel.

This post demonstrates the point I was trying to make earlier.

Israel, as a people, will last for ever, but this will happen in God's way, and in accordance with his law. It will be a work of the Holy Spirit, not bombastic military power.

The militaristic and socialist state of Israel will eventually reap what it is sowing and will disappear. This will bring enormous pain to the Jewish people and embarassment to many of those who call themselves "Prophets".
