Forgotten Fellowship

Over the last century, the word "fellowship" has disappeared from common usage. Even among Christians the meaning of the word has been forgotten or lost its meaning. This is strange, because fellowship is a central aspect of the Christian life.

Something must be seriously wrong with our society, when the word for a basic human need drops out of existence, without any new word replacing it.

What an interesting observation.

I'll think about this all day.

An Orthodox blogger had a great series about this during May... check it out. In that and a previous post, he and his readers discussed fellowship in relation to personhood and personhood in relation to...um... "Other." Argument boiled down to "you can't be a full person without perceiving yourself in relation to others -- and communion with others and with God is what the Communion of koinonia should be."
