Father Forgiveness

I presume one exists somewhere, but I can’t imagine a father who punishes his son for every single mistake, misdeed or error that he makes. Even bad fathers forgive their sons, over and over again. That is what fathers do. They try to teach their sons how to avoid making useless mistakes that will wreck their lives, but they don’t punish every mistake.

Jesus explained that God is our father, so like human fathers, he is willing to forgive his children for their misdeeds. Jesus told Peter to forgive his brother 500 time (70x7). I am sure that God is willing to do that too. Her does not work on a “one strike and you are out” rule. A theology that has no room for God’s forgiveness (without punishment) is a distortion of the truth.
