A different take...

... on the US presidential election.

If your remove the rack from Obama Barack’s, you get Ba Ma Ba, which is a conversation between a sheep and it lamb.

The Romney is a breed of sheep. They produce a lot of coarse wool suitable for carpets, but are dumber than most sheep breeds. Farmers here have had to cross the Romney with other breeds to increase their productivity and intelligence.

So the competition between the donkey and the elephant has changed into a contest between to sheep.

It does not matter which one wins the election, because during his term of office, events will occur that cause Americans to follow him like sheep to a place were they do not want to go.

Summer

We have been enjoying a lovely warm summer.

However, as I cycled to work this morning, I notices it felt a little cooler. I presume that means that President has got global warming under control, as he promised.

I wonder, if he can save the global economy tomorrow?

Record Attendance at Worship Service

President worship is alive and well.

Fortunately, the Lord God has his thousands, who have not bowed the knee to the god of political power.

Running Mutts

Obama the drama has chosen a real Joe as his running mate.

One of the greatest problems for every American presidential candidate is choosing a running mate who will not show him up. Given the mediocrity of most presidential candidates, this can be quite difficult. They have to find someone even more mediocre than themselves.

Imagine the problems that John the jaw must be having. He has to find someone who cannot find Pakistan on a map and who will not make John look old and tired. There cannot be many outside of the senate who fit that job description.

Jesus is President - Can you say it.

We like to sing and proclaim that Jesus is Lord, but our words may not mean anything. We no longer have Lords in our society, so we do not know the meaning of the word Lord.

When pledging allegiance to our political leaders, we call them president or prime minister. We pledge allegiance to the kingdom of God by saying Jesus is Lord or King. The truth is that we have pledged allegiance to two masters. We justify this divided loyalty by calling one king or lord and the other president or prime minister.

If my nation has a king and I have pledged allegiance to him, it would be quite hard to call Jesus king, because it will be obvious that I have divided loyalty. If I believe Jesus is king, it would be hard to pledge allegiance to a human king, because I cannot serve two kings. However, we just dont get this dilhemma, because we do not have human kings.

King Herod understood that a people cannot have two kings. When he heard that a king had been born, he knew he had to kill him. Israel could not have two kings. Herod knew that if a new king came to power, one of them would have to go. Herod decided to get in first.

In America, where people have no experience of kingship or lordship, “Jesus is President” might be a better paraphrase of “Jesus is Lord”. However, it would be hard to pledge that "Jesus is President" as it would exposes a divided loyalty. A pledge of "No President but Jesus" would be a subversive statement, because a republic cannot have two presidents.

Could you say, Jesus is President. Jesus is Lord is much easier, because it does not mean as much.

Appointing Presidents

Timor Leste, one of the newest and poorist countries in the world, has just appointed a new presidents. The Timorese people seem very excited. By all accounts, Jose Ramos-Horta is a good man, but I am not sure why the Timorese want a president. A president costs a lot money, but cannot create wealth of for ordinary people. I am not sure if Timor Leste can afford a President.

The French have elected a new president too. Most accounts are not sure whether he is a good man or not. He problably will not be able to change things, any more than the President of Timor Leste. But at least, the French can afford him.
