Authority and the Kingdom

When Christians are appointed to a positions of authority, they should hold it lightly and not keep their power for themselves. They will surrender to the Holy Spirit and submit their authority to him. The Holy Spirit is now God’s agent on earth, so it is right that they should give their authority to him. The Holy Spirit only does what he sees the Jesus doing, so bobeying him is the same as obeying Jesus.

The Holy Spirit does not take the authority that we offer to him. He gives it back to us, but teaches us how to exercise it.

The second thing that Christians should do is delegate their authority to those who are below them. When Christians get authority, they should look for capable and trustworthy people and train, disciple, teach them how it exercise authority. The will delegate as much authority as possible down to them.
