Sport and Nationalism
I hate the way that sport has been captured by nationalism.
I dislike the success or sports men and women being used to buttress the pretensions of the nation state.

Here in the US, we accused the Soviet Bloc of professionalism because they inducted their athletes into the military and let them train full-time. But as soon as we could put our top professional athletes in the Olympics, we did it. The Olympics have long since outlived their usefulness. They're just one more over-produced orgy of egotism with no purpose other than making money.
